DevelopmentCheck is a mobile application that has been developed with ease of use in mind, and is specially designed so it can be used by someone who hasn’t used a smart phone before. It can be set up in any language.
Monitors use the app to record their findings while they are monitoring, including problems they find, solutions to those problems, and what the community thinks about the project or service being monitored. When they record information in the app, it is immediately displayed on this website to create an incentive for problems to be fixed efficiently and to make sure that citizens’ voices are the most important voices in the implementation of projects and services.
DevelopmentCheck does not work as a standalone tool; it is part of a broader approach. This includes an in-depth training for monitors which provides them with skills to identify problems and find solutions, as well as methods for identifying and engaging with key stakeholders such as local authorities, contractors, or NGOs.
